Sunday Worship (During Coronavirus)

  • Memorial Lutheran Church 5810 3rd Street Katy, TX, 77493 United States (map)

NewChurch Sunday Worship Plans:

We think it is very important that we come together around the promises of Christ and the peace that He offers in the midst of all this unsettling turmoil.

So we will gather for worship in the gym at Memorial Lutheran Church in Katy on 3rd Street in Old Katy.

1. We will continue to gather for worship. One way or another. Since Katy schools have closed, we don’t have access to our normal space at Kilpatrick Elementary. The current plan is to meet in the gym at Memorial Lutheran Church in Katy. They have graciously offered to let us use their space at our normal time of 10am.

We will have a simplified setup but we will be able to do church our way. No Sunday school, no YoungOnes or Journey breakout—just gathering for worship, prayer and God’s Word.

There is the possibility that things could change—it seems like things change by the hour—please stay tuned to our Facebook group, email, and our website. Like all the way up to the time that you get ready to drive to church. Like Jesus said about the second coming, no one knows except the Father in heaven.

If Memorial Katy doesn’t end up having services, we will live stream from the Memorial Katy gym with our band and a bare-bones production team. Please stay tuned.

We will gather around the promises of Christ, one way or another.

2. Whether we are able to gather for worship or not, if you are in a demographic that is considered at risk and particularly vulnerable, then please feel free to stay home and watch the live-feed of the service.

3. Please exercise great caution when around other people. Wash your hands, refrain from shaking hands, hugging, don't touch your face, etc. Cough into your elbow instead of your hand. Wash your hands again. Please be mindful of people’s concerns and be kind to your neighbor.

4. Obviously, if you are not feeling well please stay home. Let us know so we can pray for you and take care of you—but limit your exposure to other people.

5. If you have a cough or a persistent sneeze, this might not be the best time to be in gatherings of people. Many people are nervous and on edge. I’m not telling you anything that the rest of the world isn’t telling you. Ha

6. Most importantly, Let's pray for this pandemic to go away. Pray for God to have mercy on us and protect us from sickness and harm. Pray for our leaders to handle all this with wisdom. A failure to pray is a failure to trust that God is God.

We can’t allow fear to get the best of us. It is always good to be wise and cautious but that should never cause us to act like unbelievers. Do not give the devil a foothold.

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline."
2 Timothy 1:7

Jesus said, “Be not afraid.” God is good and He’s in control. No matter what happens, you can rest in the assurance that you are safe in His love.
